Front 9 Hole-by-Hole

Hole 1 - Par 4 365/354/334
This is the most generous tee shot at Elmwood.  Difficulty comes with the approach shot to the green. A drive short of the top of the hill leaves a blind second shot.  Longer hitters can drive the ball inside 100 yards but are left with a downhill lie to a green that slopes from front to back.  With a blue flag just hit it on the green and let it funnel to the back.  Good luck with a red flag!

Hole 2 - Par 4 363/350/340
Tight driving hole with out of bounds left and trees on the right.  The best line off the tee is to aim at the left edge of the green.  The green is open with no bunkers and is elevated.

Hole 3 - Par 3 146/140/135
Plays downhill and about a half a club shorter.  Two bunkers guard the front of the green.

Hole 4 - Par 4 280/271/263
Risk-Reward hole.  Long hitters can drive the green but beware of the out of bounds left, out of bounds long, trees to the right and two bunkers protecting the green.  A 200-yard layup shot leaves a  75 yard approach to an elevated green.  A layup should favor the left side of the fairway where everything funnels right.

Hole 5 - Par 4 359/359/348
What you see is what you get.   With a creek down the left and trees to the right, up the middle is the shot.  Getting too close to the green can create a challenging second shot to an elevated green.

Hole 6 - Par 3 197/173/137
There is a pond between the tee and green but it rarely comes into play.  The green is very large and slopes from back-right to front-left.

Hole 7 - Par 5 485/461/422
One of two short par 5s on the course but don’t be fooled by the distance.  Out of bounds loom all the way down the left side and a creek lurks along the right and then crosses the fairway about 60 yards from the green.  If your tee shot looks to be going out of bounds left, make sure to yell “LeRoy”. The kidney shaped green is protected by bunkers on both sides.  A middle pin is very difficult from any distance.  Going for the green in two requires a very accurate 2nd shot.  For the best opportunity to get home in two, make sure your drive favors the left side of the fairway.

Hole 8 - Par 4 389/374/359
This is a demanding hole.  A creek runs all the way down the right side of a left-to-right sloping fairway.  Your line off the tee should be left-center of the fairway since everything funnels hard left-to-right.  The second shot has the ball below the players feet to a green that slopes left-to-right.  A deep bunker hides off the right edge of the green.

Hole 9 - Par 4 314/279/266
Pretty straightforward hole but it's all uphill.  A slight miss right will bounce back to the middle of the fairway.  A miss left will leave a tough punch out of the trees.  The green slopes severely from back to front so leaving your approach below the hole is a good idea.
